Microdermabrasion is a manual exfoliation technique that utilizes crystals or Diamond tip to remove dead and damaged cells from the surface of the skin. This allows fresher, younger, and healthier skin to shine through, renewing your complexion and improving the appearance of any discoloration, scarring, or fine lines. Microdermabrasion treatments can also help to treat or reduce the effects of acne, age spots, and enlarged pores. This technique is simple, effective and comfortable with fast results. Microdermabrasion is usually performed in a series of 4 to 12 treatments spaced a week or two apart.

In diamond tipped devices the coarseness of the grit and speed of rotation determine the aggressiveness of the treatment. Deep wrinkles and scars require additional treatments such as lasers or chemical peels.

Prior to microdermabrasion, the area to be treated is gently cleaned. For crystal-based microdermabrasion, a high pressure stream of crystals is forced over the skin and then cleared with a vacuum that also whisks away exfoliated skin.

One or two passes are typically performed. After the microdermabrasion treatment, excess crystals are wiped off and moisturizer and sunscreen applied. The skin will be red for a few hours.
